Wednesday, January 27th Reading Psalm 119:81-88
Hurry up and wait. Is there any more difficult word to hear from God than WAIT? This is what the psalmist is experiencing. He knows God's Word is sure, true and trustworthy but to experience the fulfillment of its promisses he must wait. While you wait it will be difficult and people will plot against you, but you are doing what you should do in trusting in God's Word. It may be (I feel that it is for me) that God wats you and I to WAIT. Wait for Him to come through. Wait for justice to happen. Wait for the opportunity to open up. Wait for my loved one to get it. Wait for the pain to end. Wait for the resource to be provided. Wait for the wisdom to arrive. Wait for the promise to come true. I can only do this when my "hope is in Your Word" (vs 1). Wait IN THE WORD, it's worth it.

This psalmist really gets inside my head sometimes. How many times have I asked God, "Okay, seriously, how long are you going to let this go on?" or "Did you see that, they almost finished me off?!?!?!"(verse 87 NLt)
ReplyDeleteI too often forget that God's got this. I spend too much trying to do God's "job" for Him and I forget to cling to His principles and obey them.(verse 83 NLT)
Thank You Lord, for keeping Your promises...even if it's not always in my time...hahaha. -Tina
This is a great passage that can relate to anyone. The society we live in today does not know what the word wait or patience means. I think we get frustrated at times when we pray for something and get no response. At least thats what we think. Sometimes unanswered prayers might be the response, just not the result we want. One things for sure, he is always on time.
ReplyDeleteLord continue to give me the know how to recognize that the way you work is for the best.

Just because we 'put hope in your Word' doesn't mean that life is always going to be smooth sailing and sunshine. God doesn't promise happiness or circumstances to work out the way we want them to. At the same time His word is filled with promises: He will never leave us, He will never give us a trial we cannot handle, He loves us, and so many more. These are the promises I need to remember to live by, not by circumstances or feelings.
