Wednesday, January 20th Reading Psalm 119:25-32

What do I expect when I get IN THE WORD? The psalmist expects to be revived. In a time of great discouragement he expects to be revived by simply being IN THE WORD. I pray that I will be one who has right expectations when I an IN THE WORD. The NLT renders vs 29, "Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing your instructions." That hit me between the eyes. Upon reading that I was convicted about how much time I spend listening to myself, and not God. Most of the time my thoughts are messed up by my own limited perspective, selfish viewpont, and arrogant conclusions. Throughout this section the psalmist is asking for help grasping and understanding God's Word. He values it. He expects his life to be changed as he understands it. God change my expectations as I continue IN THE WORD.

  1. It takes a previously established relationship to be able to act this way in the low tides of life. When you are down in the dumps, and depressed, if you don't have that, it's probably not going to be your first reaction to look to God. Then we get all inward, and like Shawn said, start listening to our own voice, full of Satan's lies, THAT is even harder to come out of than just the bad times. May we stand ready, with the Word hidden in our hearts and pressed upon our minds!

  2. This is the most basic instruction I have read so far! We need to understand what God wants from us. To learn this we need to read, study, meditate on God's word. The word will teach us what we need to know. God will guide us to do his will if we only open ourselves to him. We must beleive God's promises. We must obey his rules. God loves us and teaches us. If we repent and accept his Holy Son, we receive his blessings: Salvation and his love and guidance. We also are supposed to share his word with everyone else. Our Lord loves his creation and wants us to love him in return.
